How to write an effective title tag
The title tag is the page's short label in browser tabs and many search results. It should tell a person what the page offers before they click.
Put the distinctive idea first
“AI Readiness Audit for Business | Optimize.com.au” is more informative than “Services | Optimize.com.au”. Lead with the topic, then add the brand or location when it helps recognition.
Make titles unique across the site
If several pages use “Search Engine Optimization”, neither visitors nor search systems can easily distinguish their roles. Use titles such as “SEO Keyword Research”, “Website SEO Audit” and “How Search Engines Work” to express the difference.
Match the visible page
The title tag and main heading do not need to be identical, but they should describe the same subject. A dramatic title that promises something the page does not deliver may attract a click and immediately lose trust.
Write for scanning, not stuffing
Use concise language and avoid lists of near-identical phrases. Search result displays vary, so the title should still make sense if only part of it is shown.
A practical formula
Specific topic or service + useful qualifier + brand. Treat this as a starting point, not a rule. The best title is the clearest accurate label for that page.
