Internal Linking

Internal linking for people and search systems

Internal links connect the pages within a website. They help visitors continue a useful journey and show how broad topics, detailed guides and service pages relate to one another.

Link where the reader has a natural next question

An article about keyword selection can link to keyword placement or to the main SEO service. A workforce optimization page can link to the stress-management seminar when change pressure becomes relevant. Context makes the link valuable.

Use descriptive anchor text

“Read our AI readiness audit process” tells the reader what to expect. Repeated “click here” links provide less information and are harder to scan.

Build hubs rather than isolated pages

A topic hub introduces a major subject and links to focused supporting pages. Those pages can link back to the hub and sideways to closely related material. This creates a navigable knowledge structure.

Check for orphan and overloaded pages

An orphan page has no meaningful internal links pointing to it. An overloaded page may contain dozens of unrelated links that dilute the user's attention. Both problems can be found through a site crawl and a manual navigation review.

External links have a different role

Link to authoritative external information when it helps the reader verify or explore a claim. Do not add links merely to imitate a formula; choose them for usefulness.
