Web page optimization
Web page optimization gives one URL a clear job and removes anything that interferes with that job. The goal is not to insert a phrase a certain number of times; it is to help the right visitor recognise that the page answers their need.
Begin with a one-sentence purpose
Complete this sentence: “This page helps ___ understand or do ___.” If the answer contains several unrelated goals, the page may need to be divided or simplified.
Build the page in a useful order
- State the topic and value clearly in the main heading and opening.
- Explain the problem or decision the reader is facing.
- Provide details, steps, examples or comparisons.
- Address limitations, objections and common mistakes.
- Offer a next action that matches the page.
Check the supporting elements
- A distinctive title and meta description.
- Descriptive subheadings that allow quick scanning.
- Internal links to related services and deeper guides.
- Images with meaningful alternative text where images add value.
- A canonical URL and no accidental duplicate version.
- Readable layout on a phone.
Improve with evidence
After publishing, review search queries, page engagement and enquiry behaviour. A page can then be expanded around real questions rather than assumptions.
